Year 3 - Growing From Strength To Strength

Lynn Chatwin Plot 2F - Year 3 at the allotment growing from strength to strength

My allotment helps me escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in an oasis of tranquillity just around the corner from my home. Not only do I get great satisfaction from producing my own produce I also really enjoy the connection with nature and wildlife all of which helps with well-being and keeps me fit!

I was a complete novice when I started three years ago but taking on a quarter plot has not been too overwhelming. Each year I learn more and more through trial and error, asking advice from my very friendly allotment neighbours and also just walking down the path looking at what is going on with other allotments. All of this has helped me establish and develop my own plot.

My family and friends have enjoyed eating the fruits of my labour. Producing and eating your own produce is very rewarding and my family love it as the produce is totally fresh and completely free of any chemicals. I’ve also now started to make homemade chutney with produce from my allotment which is also well received by family and friends!

It is so lovely to be a part of Wellesbourne allotment.  Meeting new and interest people of all ages and with its long and interesting history. I feel very proud to be a part of it and still have a lot to learn but I am enjoying the journey!
